Job Purpose
Background
The school of chemical engineering is recruiting 1 new post-doctoral research fellow for 12 months to assist in the research and operation of a new EPSRC IAA follow on Fund project. The project will demonstrate the catalytic effect of biochar in a new Thermo-Catalytic Reforming TCR process.
Job Summary
The successful candidate should be experienced in chemical engineering in a relevant field of bioenergy, pilot plant experience operating large scale reactors for the production of renewable fuels via biomass thermal conversion processes.
Person Specification
The successful candidates will have excellent chemical engineering skills (biomass and biofuel characterisation, performing HAZOPs, producing P&IDs, and mass and energy balances) and must be flexible to operate the plant when required for other ongoing research projects. The candidate should also be experienced in writing research grants to European and National funding agencies such as EPSRC/H2020 or similar. A good publication record is essential.
The successful candidates must hold a degree in chemical engineering or related discipline and will have completed a Ph.D. in a relevant field of bioenergy, previous pilot plant experience operating large scale reactors for the production of renewable fuels via biomass thermal conversion processes particularly pyrolysis processes is essential.
