• Formal education to degree level or equivalent.

• Relevant project experience in a complex organisation, with a successful track record of managing activities within timescale and budget.

• Working knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies alongside their effective deployment.

• Ability to interpret, analyse and present information and formulate clear proposals on the basis of the analysis, with an exceptional eye for detail.

• Experience of working as part of a team, not of all whom are within the same line management structure and where it may be necessary to persuade those who are in a more senior position.

• Ability to work independently, accurately and to deadlines within a team environment.

• Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

• A firm but diplomatic approach to problem-solving, using own initiative.

• Experience of producing and analysing complex research, information and data and turning these into purposeful reports that influence policy and assist decision making.

• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels within the University.

• A good team worker with the ability to work effectively with staff at different levels of the organisation.

• An ability to prioritise and to schedule workloads in the face of conflicting demands.

• Excellent organisational and administrative skills.

• Considerable experience of stakeholder management including stakeholder analysis and communication with all levels of stakeholders.

• Proficiency in MS Office software.

• Awareness of the current issues and opportunities in the Education sector, HE experience is desirable but not essential.

Based in the central Dubai Project Office on the Edgbaston Campus, this role is an exciting project management opportunity to oversee the development of degree programmes to be delivered on the University of Birmingham’s first branch campus.

The post holder will work closely with the Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education), who is the Chair of the Education Development Group, and will be managed by the Development Manager in Educational Enterprise whose team designs and develops a number of digital learning initiatives across the University. The team create innovative learning experiences working with academic faculty and drawing upon the latest tools, technology and techniques.

The post will support and assist the Academic staff in the provision of a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to be delivered by Business School, School of Computer Science, School of Education and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, in the first instance.

The successful candidate will support the Development Manager and Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) in the development of courses (initially starting in Sept 2018), coordinating and acting as central link point for the Dubai academic faculty.The role will also include working with a cross section of University colleagues to resolve operational issues related to teaching delivery, including timetabling, student experience and programme administration.

With a proven track record of delivery within a complex, multi-faceted organisation, the post holder will use their initiative to rapidly drive forward activity. The post holder will also need to be a good team player and possess a ‘can do’ attitude with excellent administrative and organisational abilities.
