Position description

To create and contribute to the creation of knowledge by undertaking a specified range of activities within an established research programme on automated clinical epidemiological studies and linked methodological research projects.

 

Candidate requirements

  • PhD in Statistics, Epidemiology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science OR a relevant higher degree
  • Graduate in a numerate-related subject
  • Experience of applying statistical techniques e.g. logistic and Cox regression, analysis of variance, prediction model development and time series analysis
  • High level of skills in statistical programming, preferably in R or STATA
  • Ability to apply machine learning algorithm for outcome prediction research
  • Experience of working in the field of pharmaco-epidemiology
  • Experience of computer-based database management and data extraction/ reporting techniques (preferably Access/SQL).
  • Experience of working with large routinely collected healthcare databases
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly
  • Fluency in relevant models, techniques or methods and ability to contribute to developing new ones
  • Ability to assess resource requirements and use resources effectively
  • Understanding of and ability to contribute to broader management/administration processes
