Duties
- Coordinating the Postharvest Pathology Laboratory;
- Supervising postgraduate students using the Postharvest Pathology Laboratory on Good Laboratory Practices (GLP);
- Supervising postgraduate students in the Fruit and Postharvest Research Programme within the Plant Pathology Department in all aspects related to the use, application and interpretation of molecular techniques relating to their research projects within this programme;
- Supervising postgraduate students in the Fruit and Postharvest Research Programme within the Plant Pathology Department in all aspects related to the use, application and interpretation of statistical data analyses relating to their research projects within this programme;
- Designing, executing and interpreting ad hoc laboratory and orchard research trials undertaken by the Fruit and Postharvest Pathology Research Programme;
- Preparing manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals.
Job Requirements
- PhD with a focus on molecular biology;
- Work experience in molecular plant pathology, with competencies in fungal taxonomy and fungicide resistance;
- Work experience in designing and carrying out research on detection of fungicide resistance in fruit pathogens.
Recommendation
- Experience in managing a postharvest pathology laboratory;
- Good interpersonal and liaising skills.
