Division: Student Affairs Centre for Student Communities Listen, Live and Learn Coordinator (Ref. SSG/046/0218)  

Duties

 

  • Further development, refining and implementation of the LLL cocurricular framework;
  • Providing guidance to and supervision of students in the LLL houses, as well as creating development opportunities for them;
  • Accountability for coordinating and administrative functions, including facility management, with regard to the LLL houses;
  • Ensuring the development of a wholesome, unified community and the establishment of an academic learning culture;
  • Liaising with and advising the LLL student representatives;
  • Availability for, liaising with and advising students;
  • Implementing valuedriven management in line with the University’s Vision;
  • Bridging the gap between the faculties and the world of the student;
  • Executing divisional and university responsibilities;
  • Ensuring the LLLhouses’ vision is made practical;

Supporting the compilation of the narrative version of the experience of the students and the growth of the initiative.Please note that a substantial part of the LLL coordinator’s functioning will be after hours.For a full role description, contact Human Resources at krutgers@sun.ac.za   

 

Job Requirements

  • A university degree;
  • Experience in the development of an academic residential community;
  • An empathetic and positive approach towards students;
  • Willingness to participate in valuedriven management;
  • A balanced interest in student guidance;
  • The ability to build and maintain excellent interpersonal relations;
  • Outstanding communicative ability and proven written skills in Afrikaans as well as English;
  • Ability to provide mentorship and involve students in the process of change;
  • Facilitation skills;
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Effective administration skills;
  • Computer literacy;
  • The proven ability to organise functions / events, compiling of budgets, and liaising with service providers and potential sponsors.   

 

Recommendation

  • A suitable academic profile;
  • Knowledge of valuedriven management;
  • Experience of diversity management and the development of social entrepreneurship.
