Next Generation Sequencing Unit
Intern: Lab Assistant

The purpose of the internship programme is to offer graduates (diploma/degree) with no relevant work experience the opportunity to obtain practical workplace exposure and experience.
Duties and responsibilities:
Receive and process samples for the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) unit.
Quantify genomic material for downstream processes.
Take stock and maintain a sterilize laboratory space.
Prepare different genomic DNA libraries.
Validate and normalise genomic DNA libraries.
Maintain the NGS instruments.
Analyse and maintain the NGS data and database.
Hons degree in either Biotechnology/ Virology/ Microbiology/ Molecular Biology/ Biochemistry or Genetics.
Well-organised and disciplined individual with great planning skills and willing to work with shear dedication for quality oriented results within stipulated timeframes.
Assumption of duties:
As soon as possible.

Salary:

Inherent requirements:
Required competencies:
- Experience in Molecular Biology techniques.
- Basic laboratory skills including pipetting and PCR.
- Possess knowledge to use data handling software such as excel.
- Willingness to learn bioinformatics.
- Proficient in both spoken and written English.
