Academic Facilitator for Mathematics in Access (25 hours per week) (academic year) (2 positions)

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the development module in Mathematics in the University Preparation Programme (UPP) and BSc Extended Programmes.
  • Assist with assessment.
  • Monitor the academic needs of this cohort of Mathematics students in collaboration with the module coordinators.
  • Provide general administrative assistance.
  • Inherent requirements:

    • B-degree with first year Mathematics.
    • A good academic record.

    Required competencies:

  • Advanced computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email and the internet.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to function with ease in the University`s richly diverse working environment.
  • Ability to function independently, as well as in a team.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to function under pressure.
  • Recommendation:

  • B-degree with second year Mathematics.
  • Proven knowledge of the University Access Programmes.
  • Experience with regards to open learning/outcomes-based learning and related methodology.
  • Experience in the facilitation or lecturing of all mathematics disciplines in a special access program.
  • Proven experience in the use of Blackboard and PeopleSoft.
