The key specialist service areas of Finance are:

  • Corporate Finance

  • Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Financial Operations including Accounts Payable, Collections and Receivables, and Client Support Services

  • Professional Services teams - Advisory and Transactional Services

Finance at UQ operates within a devolved environment with Finance staff located in Professional Services teams in Faculties, Research Institutes and Central Divisions supported by Finance specialist service teams. This position is part of the Business, Economics and Law Finance Professional Services team.

The Role

The position is responsible for providing sound financial analysis, supporting commentary and advice to academic, business and project managers to inform financial planning, budgeting and forecasting.  There is a focus on supporting researchers with the management of their grant funds, involving budgeting, financial monitoring and reporting and grant acquittals.  The role also provides support to the Senior Management Accountant with the management and reporting of operating funds and ensures that all finance advice and services are in compliance with relevant policies and / or external legislative and regulatory controls.  

The Person

Applicants should possess a degree in accounting, business or commerce and ideally be CA or CPA qualified, or have an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training. Applicants should also have extensive relevant financial/administrative experience.  A sound knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly gain knowledge of, the University's financial policies and procedures is essential, along with a strong orientation to the provision of quality client service and demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills. Experience and skill in developing processes for the management of budgets, forecast modelling and reporting on will be required.

 

Remuneration

This position is full time at HEW Level 7.  The remuneration package will be in the range of $81,883.65 - $89,559.15 per annum, plus employer superannuation contributions of 17% (total package in the range of $95,803.87 - $104,784.21).
