    The Division of Academic and Student Engagement drives the achievement of the University's strategic goals in relation to learning and teaching. This includes ensuring that students have a quality experience and investing in the ongoing professional development of academic staff.

    The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Student Learning) portfolio area provides direction and leadership to ensure the University maintains education excellence and delivers a high-quality learning experience for each student. There is particular focus on quality enhancement, innovation and assurance in curriculum and learning and teaching, and on providing professional and academic support for staff and students.

    This is a new role within the portfolio that will be responsible for supporting the PVC (SL) in the planning and implementation of the University’s Strategy for Learning, Teaching and Assessment (SLTA) and for leading and managing the work of the Teaching Excellence team in the achievement of its objectives.

    Salary: (HEO10) $120,720 to $128,819 per annum.

    Superannuation: An employer contribution of up to 17% may apply.

    Term of position: This fixed-term contract is available for 3 years in the first instance.

    Position requirements

    To be successful you should have:

    • Substantial experience of working in and leading and managing a high performing and effective team (academic and/or professional) in a higher education context.
    • Advanced understanding of strategic issues and professional practices relating to quality assurance and quality enhancement of educational provision in the higher education sector.
    • Advanced understanding of principles, practices and trends in teaching excellence in higher education, including: professional standards; quality measurement; reward, recognition and professional development.
    • Highly developed analytical, problem-solving and strategic planning skills, with ability to assess risk and identify opportunities, including expertise in resolving high level strategic problems and challenges, including the ability to be innovative and creative in identifying solutions.
    • Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into realisable and measurable implementation initiatives.
    • Demonstrated ability to undertake comprehensive, independent, high-quality research and investigations requiring advanced analytical skills.
    • Highly developed skills in drafting compelling reports and strategy papers on higher education matters.
    • Demonstrated expertise in relevant program / project management techniques of relevance to coordination of multi-strand strategic activities along with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines while producing consistently high quality work.
    • Experience of managing initial and continuing professional development programs or initiatives, and related activities, for University teaching staff (desirable).
