International Research Projects TechnicianThe People Management department at the University of Deusto, jointly with the International Research Projects Office, is seeking candidates to join our staff to fill the above position.

The International Projects Office aims to foster the University of Deusto’s participation in international research projects. To achieve this aim, the International Research Projects Office offers support and advice to the University’s researchers, teams, centres and units, identifying and dissemination information, acting as an interlocutor to bodies, advising in the preparation of proposals, negotiating with grant agreement committees, managing funds to enhance research in international projects and networks, and encouraging the organisation of meetings, seminars and information and training sessions.
The ideal candidate to join our team will work closely with these bodies to promote increased presence in Europe of the university's research staff. The successful candidate should have proven experience in the management and design of international research projects, promoting the preparation of proposals by the designated groups and identifying new opportunities for participation.

 

Duties:

With regard to research teams, research staff and other entities:

  • Know the priorities and subject areas of the research teams and interdisciplinary platforms, becoming familiar and keeping updated in order to identify calls, technology proposals and opportunities for participation that will allow to fund collaboration projects with other entities (for ex.: European Commission, Foundations, etc.).
  • Identify funding opportunities (search for funding, preparation of supporting documents (brochures, webs, ‘one page proposals’ to present R+D+I projects, etc.).
  • Support and accompaniment to the teams in the preparation, presentation and development of projects to be submitted to the various international funding programmes, mainly Horizon 2020. Define the aims and main characteristics according to the specific call requirements.
  • Design and organise training activities and promote participation in international research projects.
  • Manage and coordinate the participation of research teams and platforms (consortium formation, task force meetings, etc.).
  • Participate and foster the organisation of international meetings in order to establish joint connections and participation that can help to create greater opportunities for the positioning and participation of interdisciplinary teams and/or platforms at the University of Deusto.
  • Establish and maintain interaction channels with other entities.
  • Monitor the progress of the various projects.

 

With regard to IRPO's coordination and promotion:

  • Assist and provide advice in IRPO’s research projects.
  • Identify, channel and enhance opportunities for innovation; ensure the participation of the whole team in the innovation process, particularly in the activities related to the detection of opportunities and ideas generation.
  • Identify and implement collaboration with the various agents of the innovation system (intersectoriality).
  • Secure documentation and protection of innovation results and promote their use and transfer.
  • Ensure the internal and external visibility of the innovation effort (ensure participation in seminars, R+D+I report, press releases, etc.).

 

Requirements:

  • Licenciatura or Bachelor’s degree
  • Training in R+D+ project management and experience in drawing up proposals and managing research projects (for ex.: FP7, H2020) and in the funding mechanisms of the European Commission. At least three years’ experience in management, monitoring and justification of European projects funded by the Commission (7 Framework Programme, Horizon 2020, among others). Previous work at an International Research Projects Office or a Research Management Office will be an advantage.
  • Having experience in designing and drawing up research proposals in one of Deusto's disciplinary fields and/or priority thematic areas will be an asset.
  • Having an ability for negotiation and good interpersonal skills to create interaction networks with researchers at an internal level and with other local, regional and international entities. Collaborative and competitive intelligence.

  • Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish
  • Competences related to the job position:

The contract offered for this position is temporary and the financial conditions will depend on the candidate's experience and knowledge.
