    The Division of Academic and Student Engagement drives the achievement of the University's strategic goals in relation to learning and teaching. This includes ensuring that students have a quality experience and investing in the ongoing professional development of academic staff.

    The Division is comprised of five key portfolio areas led by: the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Student Learning); Pro Vice-Chancellor (International); Dean, Indigenous Research and Education Strategy; University Librarian and the Executive Director, Division of Academic and Student Engagement.

    The Executive Director, Division of Academic and Student Engagement portfolio area is responsible for overall strategic management of the division. It provides leadership and direction to functional areas such as Student Administration, Children’s University, Student Recruitment and Admissions and Professional and Continuing Education.

    Children’s University Australia (CUA) coordinates student outreach through extracurricular learning activities and volunteering opportunities in primary and high schools in South Australia.

    This role will work as part of the regional engagement team led by Regional Engagement Coordinator (REC) to develop and manage the expansion of CUA in Pt Pirie, Pt Augusta, Whyalla and surrounding areas. This role will focus on the development of new CU centres and supporting schools with the initial set up of the CUA model, including recruiting new schools to the program and providing validation training to school staff and other organisations. The role will also be responsible for the expansion of key stakeholder relations, particularly Public Learning Destinations and will be expected to build strong relationships with local and regional partners who may play a key role in local CU development, support and sustainability.

    Salary: (HE07) $83,105 to $93, 231 per annum as applicable to the role

    Superannuation: An employer contribution of 9.5% applies.

    Term of position: This fixed-term, part time contract is available immediately until 31 December 2018.

     

    Qualifications: 

    • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent education and/or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
    • Cert VI in Training and Assessment (desirable)

     

    Position requirements

    To be successful you should have:

    1. Sound knowledge of the Commonwealth Government’s agenda for higher education, particularly HEPPP and access and equity initiatives.
    2. Demonstrated high-level organisational and administrative skills, diligence and attention to detail.
    3. Experience in working with regional communities and establishing strong regional networks.
    4. Ability to work to short time lines, to be flexible and prioritise competing demands.
    5. Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, both written and oral; ability to deliver presentations to a variety of audiences utilising a variety of mediums
    6. Demonstrated experience working in educational settings or on educational projects with young people (primary and/or secondary students)
