FACULTY OF ECONOMIC AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCES
DEPARTMENT OF MARKETING MANAGEMENT
SENIOR LECTURER / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR / PROFESSOR (ONE POST)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Lecturing at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level;
  • Supervising postgraduate students;
  • Conducting scientific research and publications in the field of Marketing;
  • Liaising with students, parents and other stakeholders;
  • Managing academic departmental events and supervising assistants/tutors.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Senior Lecturer:

  • A Doctorate with specialisation in the field of Marketing Management;
  • Lecturing experience at tertiary level;
  • Experience in independent research and/or involvement in research activities.

Associate Professor:

  • A Doctorate with specialisation in the field of Marketing Management;
  • Lecturing experience at undergraduate and postgraduate level;
  • Record of publications in accredited journals;
  • A record of successful supervision of students at master’s and/or doctoral level;
  • Evidence of curriculum development.

Professor:

  • A Doctorate with specialisation in the field of Marketing Management;
  • Lecturing experience at undergraduate and postgraduate level;
  • Proven experience supervising master’s and doctoral students;
  • Research standing should be demonstrated by a sustained recent record of accredited publications and productivity in the marketing field that enjoys at least some level of international recognition;
  • Experience in curriculum development, especially on postgraduate level;
  • Establishment of research alliances and international partnering, as well as attainment of independent national or international research funding;
  • Mentoring and coaching of junior and senior staff.

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Appropriate language proficiency as well as appropriate communication skills;
  • Computer literacy.

 

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

Senior Lecturer:

  • Lecturing experience at postgraduate level;
  • Practical marketing experience in commerce or industry;
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals;
  • Experience in the guidance of postgraduate students’ research.

Associate Professor:

  • Practical marketing experience in commerce or industry;
  • Candidate in possession of an NRF rating or demonstrating potential to obtain an NRF rating within three years.

Professor:

  • Publications in international accredited journals that have high impact factors;
  • Practical marketing experience in commerce or industry;
  • Candidate in possession of an NRF rating or in the process of application (at least within one year).

 

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
