Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage all routine chemical and other biological sample preparations including sectioning, digital image processing and chemical store as full-time appointment.
  • Monitor laboratory safety, cleanliness and handle preparation equipment.
  • Execute special instructions for basic handling of microscopes (light and electron microscopy). 

 

Inherent requirements:

  • B.Sc. degree in Biological Sciences.

 

Recommendations:

  • One (1) to two (2) years' proven experience and training in microscope principles.
  • Mechanical interest/aptitude. 

 

Required competencies:

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to function well in the University's richly diverse working environment.
  • Incline to precision, fine detail and mechanical aptitude.
  • Handling skills in chemicals and basic scientific equipment e.g. centrifuges, gas bottles, scales.
  • Microscope handling, computer and network competent.
  • Business acumen.
  • Result orientated.
  • Strategic thinking.
  • Building coalitions.
  • Leading.
