Job Details

The LIM-56 Therapeutic Vaccine Group of the University of São Paulo Medical School (FMUSP), in partnership with the Center for Virology Diseases of the Blood Institute of the Adolfo Lutz Institute (NDSS / CV / IAL) offers an opportunity of post-doctoral studies funded by FAPESP in studies of pathogenesis and molecular biology of HIV-1 isolates related to immunological response generation associated with vaccine protection. The overall objective of this project is to uncover biological and molecular mechanisms related to the generation of protective immune response of a therapeutic vaccine based on dendritic cells, including the impact of viral diversity, both natural and in vitro (inherent in the preparation of these vaccine products), in this response.

The scholarship is linked to the Thematic Project of FAPESP "Therapeutic vaccine based on aDC1 dendritic cells and inactivated autologous virus aimed at viral control of HIV-1 infected individuals in antiretroviral therapy", process No. 2016 / 25212-9, coordinated by the professor Alberto Duarte (FMUSP).

For the development of this project, the researcher will be subsidized with a Post Doctoral grant provided by FAPESP, with a duration of 24 months and a monthly value of R $ 7,373.10. Financial aid equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the scholarship will be granted for expenses directly related to research activities. The requirements and benefits are available on the FAPESP website at fapesp.br/bolsas/pd .

Candidates must have experience in virology studies, especially cell culture and molecular biology. In addition, it is desirable that the candidate has some knowledge regarding technologies related to the development of vaccine products, such as vaccine delivery and use of adjuvants, characterization of relevant epitopes to the immune response, in the design of viral reservoirs, in new generation genetic sequencing in and notions of bioinformatics in the study of HIV-1 diversity in particular.

The postdoctoral fellow (PD) should conduct research related to the development of the product, but will have the opportunity to study the genetic diversity of other isolates and primary samples, besides participating in other regular activities, such as the presentation of seminars, and the dissemination of research results. As a result of his postdoctoral research, he should also produce articles to be submitted in journals of high academic impact, as well as present him at a seminar.
