Job Purpose

This is an exciting opportunity for a part-time Network Facilitator to support work of the Criminal Law Reform Now Network (CLRNN), under the primary supervision of Dr John Child. Launched in 2017, the mission of the CLRN Network is to facilitate collaboration between academics and other legal experts to gather and disseminate comprehensible proposals for criminal law reform to the wider community.

The post will commence at a time when both CLRNN projects are moving into their final stages of drafting and editing. The post holder will be involved in editing the project papers (though no specialist knowledge on the specific reform topics is required); liaising with the CLRNN Committee to organise high-quality events (events scrutinising and then launching the project reports); communicating with academic and non-academic partners; and providing ad-hoc research assistance. Most importantly, working with the CLRNN Committee, the post holder will take a leading role in identifying and pursuing routes to reform impact; meeting with members of Parliament and other policy makers to promote the CLRNN projects and the general interests of the Network. The post holder will receive direction from the academic investigators and will work independently to support the delivery of the project outcomes.

This post will be ideal for someone who has recently completed or is in the process of completing a PhD, and/or someone with lobbying experience who is interested in criminal law reform.

The post is 12 months fixed-term, starting in March 2019 (or as soon as possible thereafter). The post is part-time, amounting to one day a week (0.2 FTE contract). With the agreement of the principal investigator, the post holder may work their contracted hours in a flexible way across the week, and may also work remotely. It is not essential for the post holder to be based in the Birmingham area.
