The opportunity is open to Brazilian and foreign candidates. Candidates must be proactive, fluent in English, and have the ability to work as a team. The aim of the project is to test new therapeutic strategies to disrupt cancer stem cells in head and neck cancer in in vitro and in vivo models. 

It is necessary that the candidate holds a Doctorate in Brazil or validated in the country. It is recommended for the doctorate title to be in the areas of Cellular and Molecular Biology, Dentistry or Health Sciences. The candidate should have extensive experience in laboratory techniques such as cell culture, gene silencing, flow cytometry and immunofluorescence. In addition, the candidate should be experienced in the study of malignant neoplasms, modulation of cell signaling pathways and chemotherapeutic drugs. It is recommended that the candidate has experience in animal model and establishment of orthotopic or patient-derived xenografts in immunodeficient mice. The training environment is collaborative with participation in joint lab meetings and work in progress seminars. The candidate must have a strong track record of innovative research in their previous training.

The work will be developed at Piracicaba Dental School, State University of Campinas, Department of Oral Diagnosis, Pathology Area. This project will be carried out in collaboration with professionals from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Porto Alegre, Brazil) and the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, USA).

Funding:

The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP's Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of BRL 7,373.10 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity. The fellowship has duration of 24 months. The grant also includes an Installation Assistance for researchers who need to move to the city of Piracicaba, São Paulo, Brazil.

Requirements:

For the implementation of the scholarship, the selected one will be required an exclusive dedication (40 hours a week). The candidate must have completed his PhD less than 7 (seven) years.
