Job Details
The School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences (SCMB) combines the disciplines of Chemistry, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Microbiology and Parasitology into a single academic unit. The School has modern research laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment and research infrastructure. The School includes over 50 academic staff, who are widely published internationally and have extensive research backgrounds.
The role
Our laboratory is focussed on activation of innate immunity by pathogen molecules. The appointee will work as part of a team investigating the role of toll-like receptor 4 in the pathology of dengue virus infection. This is a further development of our published work (Science Translational Medicine 2015 7:304ra142). Work will involve design and execution of experiments, as well as preparation of manuscripts. Involvement in applications for research funding and assistance in supervision of postgraduate students is anticipated.
The person
Applicants must hold a PhD in the area of immunology, virology, microbiology or biochemistry as well as demonstrated expert knowledge in these areas. Applicants should have cell biology skills, and it will be an advantage to have experience in animal handling and research involving mouse models. You should also have a strong desire to develop a highly-productive research career, good general research skills, and very good writing abilities. The job will require a motivated person able to work independently, but also collaborate within a team.

Remuneration
This is a full-time, fixed term appointment at Academic Level A for 2 years. The remuneration package will be in the range $83,295 - $89,285 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $97,456 - $104,464 p.a.).
