Postdoc in Hybrid quantum nodes for quantum networks

ICFO- The Institute of Photonic Sciences (www.icfo.eu) is offering a postdoctoral position to a well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic young scientist who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment.

The successful candidate will be joining the Quantum Photonics with Solids and Atoms group led by Prof. Hugues de Riedmatten. She/He will play a key role in setting up experiments aiming at demonstrating entanglement and quantum teleportation between disparate quantum nodes based on laser cooled atoms and solid-state quantum memories (see e.g. Maring et al, Nature 551, 485 (2017)). She/He will also be responsible for experiments aiming at demonstrating quantum memories with embedded quantum processing capabilities in cold Rydberg atoms (Distante et al, Nature Commun. 8, 14072 (2017)).

Candidates must hold an internationally-recognized PhD- equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) preferably in experimental quantum optics, ideally involving quantum light-matter interactions.

The candidate should have a proven track record of high-impact scientific research in experimental quantum optics.

Positively valued will be experience in quantum light matter interaction, cold atoms, quantum memory and creation and analysis of entangled states.

Experience in quantum physics is highly desired.

The selected candidate will strongly benefit from a multidisciplinary environment with other postdocs and PhD students working in quantum technologies at ICFO.

No restrictions of citizenship apply to the ICFO post-doctoral contracts.

The contract is offered for periods of one year, renewable for a total of up to 3 years.
