Job Details

The successful applicant will join an active research group focussed on a range of offshore engineering challenges, and your work will be part of the Supergen ORE Hub core research programme (http://www.supergen-ore.net). You will contribute your expertise to the engineering challenges facing future ORE systems. This will include research into geotechnical and/or fluid mechanics aspects of ORE systems, as well as inter-university collaboration on the characteristics of future ORE sites.

You will be based in Southampton's new National Infrastructure Laboratory, and you will collaborate nationally through the EPSRC Supergen ORE hub. You will have opportunities for experimental and numerical work, as well as the collation and dissemination of field data.

You should hold (or be near to completion) a PhD* in a relevant engineering discipline, including geotechnical engineering, sediment transport or fluid mechanics, ideally with a background in offshore facilities or renewable energy.

* Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD.  Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.

This post will provide you with a link into the wider Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute and you will be part of a supportive vibrant team on the modern Boldrewood Innovation Campus at the University of Southampton.
