Job Details

Duties and Responsibilities 

The researcher will be involved in S-Designed projects. The activity of the post-doc will be framed in the following activities of the project:

  • To contribute in the on-going research activities of the project, performing technical and scientific tasks.
  • To take part in the planning and execution of the experiments to ensure the achievement of milestones of ongoing research projects.
  • To perform literature review, data collection and management, involving statistical analysis and mathematical modelling.
  • To contribute in the reporting process, such as writing progress and final reports of the on-going research activities.
  • To take part in writing scientific articles to be published in SCI® journals.
  • To be involved in knowledge transfer actives by writing technical publications in national and international journals.
  • To supervise the undergraduate and master students as well as technical staff that will be collaborating on the project.
  • To actively take part on the management and improvement of the protocols for experiments, tests and data analysis.
  • To ensure the maintenance of the equipment's and the facilities of the laboratory required under the ISO 9001

 

Skills/Qualifications

  • PhD on Food Microbiology, Food Science and Technology or similar areas.  Candidates must hold the PhD certification before starting the job contract.
  • Experience on literature review, experimental design and writing scientific publications in English.
  • Knowledge and experience on predictive microbiology and microbiological risk assessment.
  • Experience on simulation and statistical software such as MATLAB, R and @risk.
  • Fluent communication and writing skills in English.

 

Specific Requirements

  • Experience on monitoring and maintaining microbial cultures, performing “challenge test”, microbiological and physicochemical analysis of food.
  • Multidisciplinary profile (food microbiology, food processing and conservation, meat and vegetable products and simulation of process) with ability to perform a holistic approach.
  • Experience on developing tools for risk assessment.
  • International experience and availability to travel.
  • Experience on working under the integrated quality management system UNE 166002.
