The University has 3 campuses located at St. Lucia, Gatton and Herston. The University also operates medical and dental schools in Brisbane and a number of research stations and farms throughout Queensland. 

The Property & Facilities Division (P&F) is responsible for delivering comprehensive facilities management that support the University's teaching and research goals and its strategic objectives of Learning, Discovery and Engagement. To achieve this, and to further improve the environment in which members of the University community study, work and live, P&F provide a range of services. Some of the services include: Infrastructure and Sustainability, Project Delivery, Campus Operations and Planning and Property services.

UQ's environmental and sustainability initiatives have gained significant recognition. P&F manages the University's Environmental Management System, provides advice, and promotes best sustainability practices at UQ. The Sustainability website (www.uq.edu.au/sustainability) provides a single point for the University to communicate its initiatives and successes in embedding sustainability throughout its operations, learning, discovery and engagement.  By browsing the site, the community has access to information on their sustainability study options, UQ's research in the area of sustainability, partnerships with community industry and government, and the University's carbon management strategy. You are encouraged you to visit the Sustainability website.

The role

The Clerk of Works is required to support Project Delivery in monitoring and reporting on the quality of construction works across the University capital works program. This position requires a high level of construction knowledge to be able to ascertain the quality or otherwise of building works taking place at various locations.

The successful appointee will be required to monitor building works at various locations across Univeristy campuses to ensure a high level of works quality is maintained by building contractors. The position will require an ability to accurately read construction drawings and how these translate to works on the ground.

 

The person

Applicants should possess qualifications in building construction disciplines. You should also have a strong and well developed ability to communicate clearly with building contractors or sub-contractors and provide written reports on building quality. The applicant will need to be resilient to conflicts that may arise with building contractors when spoken to about poor works quality.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, continuing appointment at at HEW Level 7. The remuneration package will be in the range $83,633.65 - $91,350.33 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $97,851.37 - $106,879.89 p.a.).
