Help Support the Development of Social Workers

A London based Local Authority is seeking an experienced Social Work practitioner to join their LAC service to help lead on specialist cases as well as support and develop junior colleagues.

Highlights:

  • Lead on cases involving one of the following: CSE, Gangs, Missing Children, Mental Health or Domestic Abuse
  • Help support junior colleagues with cases which contain the above elements
  • The team works with service users between the age of 0-25
  • As a Senior Practitioner you will be supported by an Advanced Practitioner, Team Manager and the wider management team
  • The team is setup to operate as a "Pod" and benefits from weekly supervision where cases are discussed as a team
  • The "Pod" is also supported by Mental Health Practitioners who are on hand to discuss and address any case which has a mental health component.
  • There are excellent opportunities for attending training and development courses which are provided by external providers and funded by the local authority.
  • This is an excellent opportunity to focus on current themes within Social Work that looks to develop practitioners in specific areas such as CSE, Gangs, Missing Children, Mental Health and Domestic Abuse. You will be based in a Looked After Children Team, although as a Senior Practitioner you will work as the service's champion in one of these areas; leading on cases which involve these elements and providing support and development to junior colleagues around these issues.

The team operate in a Pod and you will be involved in weekly group supervision meetings where you will lead on the discussion of cases across the team so that the recommendations are based on a group discussion to provide a more holistic package of care. The Pod will also have other specialists such as a Primary Mental Health Practitioner to provide specialist advice in such areas.

To be considered for this post you should have extensive experience within LAC services, you should also have experience of Court Work.
