Postdoctoral Fellowship in Molecular Pharmacology

Opportunity opened for post-doctoral fellowship granted by thee São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), linked to the Thematic Project "Pharmacology of oligopeptidases and intracellular peptides" (2016 / 04000-3).

The project will be developed at the University of São Paulo, Biomedical Sciences Institute, Department of Pharmacology, located at Av. Lineu Prestes 1524, São Paulo, Brazil.

The overall goal for this post-doctoral project will be to elucidate the presence of peptides associated with protein complexes and to map their binding sites using mass spectrometry. These experiments will be carried out by the determination of atomic distances using different cross-links that will allow the determination of interaction sites and folds of peptide-protein complexes. Given these data, we will generate new and relevant information for understanding the molecular mechanism of action of intracellular peptides when they are complexed to their target proteins.

We are looking for qualified individuals capable of combining skills in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Mass Spectrometry, with the ability to work as a team and lead scientific projects in the field.

 

Requirements

Applicants must have a PhD in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related area, focusing on molecular studies of signaling pathways relevant in human pathology.
In addition, expertise in cloning and plasmid production techniques, cell culture, general molecular biology techniques, manipulation and analysis of software commonly used in mass spectrometric analysis is required. Knowledge of the English language is desirable. 

The candidate will contribute to the development, analysis and integration of the results generated for publications in high impact journals. Advanced level of English is desirable. 

The candidate should have a record of publications in high quality, high quality journals. 

Must have immediate availability to reside in São Paulo. 

If selected, the candidate will have a Post-Doctorate grant from FAPESP (www.fapesp.br/en/5427) in the monthly amount of R $ 7,373.10 for 24 months.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP's Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 7,373.10 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
