The Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncology (GU) at MD Anderson Cancer Center invites applicants for a term tenure track, full-time academic appointment at the level of Assistant Professor.  This position offers the opportunity for professional growth and development by joining an exciting and active group of clinicians, physician-scientists, and clinical, basic science, and translational investigators.  The successful candidate will closely interact with the many ongoing research programs of the department focusing on carcinogenesis and prevention, treatment, biomarker development, and other projects in support of personalized medicine. The faculty member will have access to GU’s substantial patient resources, core facilities, animal models, molecular pathology laboratories, and educational/training programs.  GU is currently funded by a NIH Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPOREs), the Prostate Cancer Moon Shot, and other programmatic and peer-reviewed grants that facilitate the department’s translational research initiatives.  Refer to the Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncology  Web page for additional information about the department and programs.

Responsibilities will include laboratory and clinical research programs, clinical care, and teaching in the Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncology.  The successful candidate will be expected to develop and lead an independently-funded translational laboratory research program, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary collaborations, peer-reviewed funding, and high-impact publications, with a preferred focus on the area of renal (kidney) clinical and translational research.

Applicants should hold or be eligible for medical licensure in Texas and must possess an MD/PhD with Board Eligibility or Board Certification in the subspecialty of medical oncology.  Successful candidates should have demonstrated expertise in genitourinary medical oncology clinical research.
