Entity: Network of Quality, Teaching and Learning

Location: Karachi, Pakistan

 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Network of Teaching and Learning (TL), you will be responsible to plan, co-ordinate and implement professional development activities for faculty in teaching and learning. You will also be required to:

  • Contribute to the development and operationalisation of a strategic plan for the Network of Teaching and Learning including the AKU Teachers Academy
  • Develop & coordinate workshops and seminars for faculty across AKU on teaching and learning, as well as confidential consultation clinics for individual and groups of faculty on teaching
  • Maintain workshop and seminar schedules as well as a database on all faculty development activities
  • Promote Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) activities amongst faculty by supporting the SOTL Grants and the SOTL Conference
  • Engage in research related activities e.g. literature reviews, data collection, writing research reports and other publications
  • Contribute content for the Network's website and write annual reports on faculty development activities conducted throughout the year
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance and Improvement (QAI) Network and Blended and Digital Learning (BDL)Network team members as a part of the wider Quality Teaching and Learning (QTL) Network team
  • Work with QAI_net in planning and developing faculty and student support on teaching and learning to address such issues arising from QA reviews
  • Support the evaluation of all TL_net programmes and events and promote best practices in the area of faculty development in teaching and learning
  • Provide orientation to faculty through AKU's Faculty Orientation of Teaching and Learning (FOTL) programme
  • Support the delivery of all TL_net flagship programmes, as well as, the Teaching Enhancement Accredited Certification of the Higher Education Academy, Continuous Professional Development (TEACH CPD) Scheme
  • Support the wider QTL_net team in administrative, logistical and coordination related task as and when required.

 

Requirements

You must have:

  • A Master's degree in Education, instructional and/or faculty development or in related field
  • Over 3 years' experience in a higher education environment or an appropriate combination of relevant professional and higher education experience
  • Knowledge of the integration and pedagogy of education technology
  • Strong background in teaching methodologies
  • Experience in facilitating professional development
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with minimal direction and supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure and work towards resolving problems in a timely manner.
