Academic Facilitator (40 hours per week) (academic year) (contract appointment until 31 December 2019)

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Be acquainted with the relevant course material and learning outcomes as well as methods of presentation/ facilitation and assessment.
  • Brief and train the academic facilitator(s) and ensure that they are familiar with the course content, methods of facilitation, assessment as well as the task descriptions of academic facilitators.
  • Serve under the direction of the head of department, and liaise  with: a) South Campus Access and b) Academic facilitator(s) 
  • Responsible for the management of the module in the relevant department (academic, administrative, organisation).
  • Responsible for the development of the relevant course material where necessary.
  • Monitor the course/progress of the module.
  • Attend contact sessions with learners and assists the academic facilitators with advice and assistance where necessary.
  • Compile tests and examination papers in collaboration with the department and moderate marking done by academic facilitators.

 

Inherent requirements:

  • Relevant B-degree. 
  • One (1) to two (2) years' experience in teaching and learning and/or student engagement.

 

Required competencies:

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Basic Accountancy at First Year level.
  • Excellent educational skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Excellent administrative skills.
  • Must be comfortable in using Microsoft Word, Excell and Power point.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to function with ease in the University's richly diverse working environment.

Recommendations:

  • Teaching and Learning experience in the Higher Education Environment.

01 May 2019.
