Job Role

The post is funded for 12 months to provide support to the Leukocyte Trafficking group by conducting various in vitro laboratory studies including
  • cell isolation
  • cell culture
  • basic molecular biology such as ELISA

together with a number of post-doctoral fellows, PhD students and other technical staff with whom they are expected to establish a good team working ethos.

Person Specification

• Extensive relevant experience, professional qualification or degree in an appropriate subject GCSE (A*- C) or equivalent in mathematics In-depth proven practical knowledge of technical and scientific methods stated within job description such as:

Methods to study peptide pathways such as
  • ELISA and immunohistochemistry
  • Western blotting Tissue culture methods to include
  • Culture of primary and immortalised cell lines
  • CRISPR/CAS9 Cell Adhesion assays Flowcytometry Collection of research data through a variety of research methods including scientific experimentation, literature reviews, and research interviews Troubleshoot problems within the control of the role holder, that may affect the overall productivity of the group and achievement of research objectives and deadlinesGood Laboratory Practice gained through extensive experience and formal qualification Extensive experience of similar laboratory based work Knowledge of the Human Tissue Act Positive service attitude and shows courtesy in dealing with others
