Job Details

Job description

The researcher will be part of the Membranes Separations & Processes (EMSP) team within the Laboratory Reactions and Process Engineering (LRGP). The recruited candidate will be responsible for the development of instrumented experimental benches for the study of membrane processes of gas separations (contactors), as well as associated analytical methods (spectroscopy, chromatography). Studies of modeling / simulation of separation processes will also be developed, leading to the design of a capture demonstrator. He will work under the supervision of Christophe Castel and Eric Favre in the framework of the European project C2FUEL H2020. This project aims to study a value chain for CO2 emissions from a blast furnace, combining capture, transformation and use.

The candidate will be in charge of:
  • the design of an experimental laboratory device dedicated to the evaluation of membrane contactors for gas separation
  • exploitation of experimental results
  • the development of a modeling / simulation approach applied to membrane contactors
  • the realization of a pilot CO2 capture unit by membrane contactor.

Further information

Based in Lorraine, the Laboratory of Reactions and Process Engineering (LRGP) is a Joint Research Unit of the CNRS and the University of Lorraine. It is located in Nancy in Meurthe-et-Moselle. It is mainly located in the city center, in the premises of the National School of Chemical Industries of Nancy (ENSIC). The Membranes Separations & Processes team carries out research in the field of gas and liquid membrane separation processes, combining experimentation and modeling / simulation. The theme capture and recovery of CO2 is one of the main issues with several projects completed (ANR, FP7, ADEME, industrial contracts).

Requirements and necessary experience
  • PhD in Process Engineering
  • Instrumented experimental design and bench
  • Modeling and process simulation
  • Analytical methods applied to gas mixtures
  • Ability to write, communicate and present in English
