Job Purpose
The school seeks to appoint a person to deliver research assistance on an ongoing basis, providing support to the extensive dissemination and online impact activities proposed for the project.The title of the project is: The survival of the mass party:Evaluating activism and participation among populist radical right parties. The post holder will work to develop the online content, presentation, and dissemination of material relating to the Populist Parties in Action Project - hosted by the EA WorldViewwebpages ( www.eaworldview.com ). The post holder will work with the Principals of the Project, including EA WorldView editor Professor Scott Lucas, and communications staff of the University and College of Social Sciences. Specific remit will include site strategy, including Search Engine Optimization to ensure maximum dissemination amongst scholars, specialist readers, and a general audience; social media promotion; and liaison with contributors to the webpages.
Main Duties
Content and Dissemination Development of Project webpages through consultation with the Principals and with editor of EA WorldView, the host of the Project platform Preparation, optimization and editing of material for publication Development and delivery of social media strategy for dissemination and promotion of content
Liaison with Birmingham Departments and Staff Consultation with University and College communications staff over publication and dissemination of content
Liaison with External Contributors In consultation with Principals, development of strategy to make use of networks with academics at other institutions, journalists, and stakeholders. Development of links with other news and analysis websites, at and beyond academic institutions
Development of a Search Engine Optimisation strategy Identification of SEO tools and drafting of an SEO strategy to extend international reach
Consultation over Social Media Output Work with Principals and staff on Twitter presence and networks Work with University and College staff on optimisation of Facebook presence Work with University and College staff on optimisation of UTube presence

Person Specification
Essential
- Degree-level education or equivalent work experience
- Computer literate, confident and competent in the use of database systems and electronic communication.
- Experience of working in a communications environment
- Experience, knowledge and a track record of using social media tools as part of a marketing or communications campaign.
- Experience of translating complex information into accessible communications.
- Experience of managing internal/external communications across different environments.
- Experience of working with Content Management Systems.
- Proven editing ability for a range of audiences and communications channels.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a 'can-do' attitude.
- Enthusiastic approach
- A proven, high standard of written and oral communication and confidence of dealing with projects at all levels.
- Well-developed administrative and organisational skills with a proven ability to pay attention to detail.
