University of Queensland Diamantina Institute (UQDI)
The University of Queensland Diamantina Institute (UQDI) was established in 2007 and forms a major research centre within the Faculty of Medicine. The aim of the Institute is to develop a better understanding of the molecular and cellular basis of disease, and to translate that understanding into practical outcomes for patients. Based at the Translational Research Institute (TRI) at the Princess Alexandra Hospital teaching campus in Brisbane, the Institute has more than 300 researchers and students who work closely with clinicians in the areas of cancer, immunology and genomic medicine.
The role
The primary purpose of this Research Officer role is to conduct team-based and independent high quality research in vitro and in vivo cellular and molecular techniques in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine.
The person
The successful candidate must have a PhD in the area of biological science and demonstrated expertise in mouse genetics in particular Cre-Lox conditional models. The person will also have experience utilising a number of core technologies including flow cytometry, tissue processing, histology and confocal microscopy in mice as well as expertise in data analysis and basic biostatistics.
It is essential that the person has an ability to work collaboratively, establish effective relationships and to represent and promote academic discipline at a university and wider community level, including industry, government and professional bodies and to develop proposals for funding agencies.
Experience in bioinformatics, RNA and ChIP sequencing and cell culture is desirable.
Immunisation requirements
It is a condition of employment for this role that if you are required now or in the future, to work or interact in Queensland Health clinical facility; or in an equivalent clinical health facility; or health care role; or will be required to perform work tasks that put you at risk of exposure to vaccine-preventable disease you are required to be immunised against, and remain immunised against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPDs) in accordance with the University's Vaccinations and Immunisation Guidelines (PPL 2.60.08). The employee is required to provide evidence of immunisation against VPDs.
It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.

Remuneration
This is a full-time, fixed term appointment at Academic Level A until December 2021. The remuneration package will be in the range of $84,878.42 - $90,982.26 pa, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range of $99,307.75 - $106,449.24).
