The role

You will join our research team studying the circulation of contemporary architectural, urban and infrastructural design ideas in the Asia Pacific region, casting light on the strategies that characterise the making of contemporary city in one of the most economically vibrant parts of the world. You will develop a 1-year research program in consultation with the research team.

You will also deepen dialogue, share knowledge, establish strategic partnerships and economic opportunities within the Asia Pacific with Australia-based and international professionals, organisations and institutions.

Prioritised research areas:

• Contemporary architecture and urbanism in the Asia Pacific region

• Global design in Asia and Australia

• Urban branding, media and communication

• Soft power in global cities

• Mapping strategies

The person

Applicants should hold a PhD in Architecture or closely related field - candidates who have made progress in compleiting their phds will also be considered. You should have demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, but also independently and liaise with industry, government and professional partnerts. Excellence in written communication will be highly regarded. Some verbal and written communication skills in Chinese is desirable but not essential.

You must have valid Australian work rights to apply for this role. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 1 years at Academic level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $78,775 - $90,982 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $79,025 - $106,449 p.a.).
