Job Purpose
The post-holder will be responsible for the following:
Providing high quality and proactive administrative support within the Careers Network team working with the College of Social Sciences. In particular they will provide support for the Placements Team. The Placements Team main role is sourcing and generating placement opportunities for students; building relationships with employers and stakeholders (particularly in the region) and developing and maintaining record systems/databases of student activity and participation. The post-holder will be required to undertake a range of administrative tasks and respond flexibly to variations in work content. The post-holder will collaborate with other staff in the Careers Network team to ensure that, wherever possible, and where peaks of work make necessary, there is support and work sharing.
The post requires an individual that has excellent written and organisational skills, IT skills, customer service skills and an exceptional level of attention to detail.

Person Specification
- Good general level of education; minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics, ideally educated to A-level standard
- Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal and the ability to adapt to a diverse range of client groups (students, employers, academics)
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proven ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Well-developed organisational abilities, accuracy and ability to prioritise own work
- Excellent IT, keyboard and word-processing skills and proven ability of using databases and spreadsheets e.g. Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with social media desirable.
- Proven ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines and adaptable and flexible when faced with change
- Ability to prioritise work from a range of individuals
- A customer focussed approach
- Administrative experience in a Higher Education context (desirable)
- Experience of use of a Virtual Learning Environment (desirable)
