General:

- Provide psychotherapy and counselling with regard to personal, social, emotional and career development.
- Identify, diagnose and treat serious psychological problems and refer to other professionals when the need arises.
- Liaise with Student Counselling & Development, Management, Student Affairs, Faculties, Academic departments, Support Services and Student Representatives.
- Conduct Psychometric assessments & provide Career Counselling.
- Perform psychological screening and first level interventions aimed at enhancing student functioning.
- Design and present developmental workshops for students.
- Office administration and reporting
- Participate in Student Affairs strategic goals and objectives.
- Research within the field.
Inherent requirements:
- Master's degree in Counselling Psychology.
- Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in the category Counselling Psychology.
- One (1) year experience in working with students in Higher Education and an involvement in student life activities or initiatives.
Required competencies:
- Excellent Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to function with ease in the University's richly diverse working environment and to successfully work within a professional team.
- Effective time management and ability to work under pressure.
- Computer literacy
Recommendations
- Proficiency in Sesotho and/or IsiZulu.
