Job description

The School of Physics at the University of Bristol seeks to appoint a Senior Teaching Fellow to play a leading role in undergraduate teaching within the School, and to undertake pedagogic research. The postholder will additionally serve as Senior Tutor, whose principal responsibilities include coordinating and developing tutorial and pastoral support for our undergraduate students.

This full time, open-ended post with a well-defined career pathway, is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design, development, and delivery of nationally leading practices for teaching, learning and assessment. It additionally offers the opportunity to contribute to the success and wellbeing of a large and diverse undergraduate student cohort.

The School of Physics is strongly committed to excellence in teaching and student support. As the postholder you will demonstrate awareness of the academic and wellbeing support needs of undergraduate students, and have excellent interpersonal, communication and team working skills. You will demonstrate contributions to effective undergraduate teaching including curriculum design and development. You should also have a good understanding of developments and trends in university level learning and teaching methods. With these skills you will enhance the effectiveness of teaching practices within the School, working as a member of the newly formed Physics Education Group.

Applicants should hold an honours degree in Physics and a PhD in a Physics based subject.
