The key specialist service areas of Finance are:
  • Corporate Finance
  • Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Financial Operations including Accounts Payable, Collections and Receivables, and Client Support Services
  • Professional Services teams - Advisory and Transactional Services

Finance at UQ operates within a devolved environment with Finance staff located in Professional Services teams in Faculties, Research Institutes and Central Divisions supported by Finance specialist service teams. The position is part of the Corporate Finance team for Finance.

The role

This role offers the opportunity to develop your skills from a commercial and strategic perspective. Key responsibilities include assisting with the preparation of University's consolidated statutory financial statements and management accounts; maintaining the accounting records for smaller UQ group entities; providing indirect tax advice to University staff; preparing the monthly BAS statement and assisting with FBT, GST and PRT compliance.

The person

Applicants should possess considerable experience in a tax, financial accounting or audit role within a large or complex environment; knowledge of indirect tax legislation and Australian Accounting Standards; demonstrated experience with data manipulation using Excel would be a strong advantage; an innovative outlook and ability to think laterally; pronounced client service orientation with an outcomes focus; enhanced analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills; and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Salary and Benefits

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 12 months at HEW Level 8. The remuneration package will be in the range $96,466 to $108,318 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 9.5% (total package will be in the range $105,630 to $118,608 p.a.).
