The School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences

The School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences is a diverse School within the UQ Faculty of Science comprising the disciplines of Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Parasitology. Our biomolecular research spans small synthetic molecules through to proteins, nucleic acids, viruses and microorganisms, and our materials research encompasses the design and synthesis of molecular devices, functional polymers and nanomaterials.

The role

The appointee will lead bio-electrochemistry research projects in the group utilising various electrochemical methods coupled with spectroscopy to interrogate novel enzymes currently under investigation. They will be expected to supervise and mentor research students within the research group and to be responsible for carrying out research independently and writing up the work for publication.

The person

The successful applicant will possess a PhD in Chemistry or a related discipline. Applicants should have demonstrated experience in electrochemical methods in particular with the study of biomolecules. Experience in surface modification and characterisation of electrodes will be an advantage. Data analysis through the use of electrochemical simulation software is also a desirable feature. Good communication and teamwork skills are essential and evidence of a strong publication track record will be viewed favourably.

It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Research Academic Level A for up to three years. The remuneration package will be in the range of $84,878 to $90,982 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range of $99,307.75 to $106,449 p.a.).
