(HE05) $70,301 to $78,213 per annum plus an employer contribution of 9.5% superannuation will apply

Fixed term for 12 months

Provide administration support and prepare research data for the Health Performance and Policy Research (HPPR) Unit

Located in The Basil Hetzel Institute at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Campus, this key research role is available to a Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Biostatistics or Public Health graduate.

The HPPR Unit assesses important healthcare results such as patient outcomes, safety, quality, and costs. Combining clinical medicine and health services research, HPPR's goal is to generate research that informs clinical and policy strategies to improve healthcare quality and outcomes. We are searching for a highly motivated individual who will be responsible for progressing our research program on profiling variation in healthcare quality and patient outcomes using data routinely collected by hospitals.

This research position is ideally suited for a talented individual with a background in epidemiology, public health or health services research and who is seeking to pursue a career in health services research. There is considerable opportunity to develop and lead a research area within the scope of the broader program.

To be successful you will need:
  • A Bachelor degree from an accredited university in health sciences or the equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking and completing research activities.
  • A High degree of analytical skills with demonstrated training and experience in the use of SAS (preferable) or STATA.
  • High level interpersonal and written and oral communication skills including the ability to establish cooperative working relationships with a range of individuals within a multidisciplinary research team.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and work with a high degree of attention to detail in a dynamic environment.
