Job Purpose

It is anticipated that this 2 year trainee position will enable an individual to work towards the next stages of their professional development as an S&C coach through practical on the job training, mentoring and an annual £1200 CPD budget. Gaining applied knowledge and experience of working with a range of teams/athletes within a multi-disciplinary team. Once the holder of the post has completed their initial training they will be expected to assist in the design and delivery of S&C coaching sessions to designated UBSport teams/athletes and develop their data analysis skills through assigned S&C related projects. A formalised programme of training and development is provided with the initial focus on acquiring UKSCA accreditation (if not yet achieved).

Person Specification
  • Qualified at GCSE Maths & English (C Grade or equivalent), & Coaching Qualification (any sport/discipline)
  • An awareness of the training needs of performance athletes.
  • An understanding of coaching styles and pracical delivery.
  • Good communication skill and attention to detail.
  • Team player, able to work within a busy multifuncational team.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft access, excell, outlook and word.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to plan effectively.
  • An empathy for working within a student environment, with the desire to develop student sport.
  • Must have a positive attitude towards CPD.
