Clinical Advisors, 0.2 - 0.4FTE (7 - 14 hours per week)

The NIHR is looking for Clinical Advisors to support its work in disseminating evidence in health and social care. We are looking for individuals with experience of clinical practice and knowledge of health research, including senior experience in public health, primary care or a relevant secondary care specialism.

NIHR Dissemination Centre aims to put good research evidence at the heart of decision-making in the NHS, public health and social care. We do this by identifying the most relevant NIHR research findings and developing a range of accessible, engaging reviews, summaries and other outputs, aimed at particular health and social care audiences. Through our work we help make the most of the NIHR's investment of over £1 billion a year in world-class research, which saves lives and improves health and care.

We are looking for experienced individuals with knowledge of health services and clinical research to lead some of our high-profile work, making research more relevant to people working in health. In particular, we are seeking people who can engage audiences in primary care and one or more secondary care disciplines. The post holder will provide oversight and quality assurance to our critical summaries of recent research (NIHR Signals), working closely with the production team. This will involve selecting abstracts for dissemination, as part of our editorial board, and checking final outputs for scientific accuracy and readability. The post holder will also oversee the high-profile collaboration with the BMJ to republish NIHR Signals. Other work includes engagement with clinical and service audiences, promoting evidence with royal colleges, professional bodies, patient groups and others.

We are looking for individuals with senior clinical experience for a total input of 0.2 - 0.4 FTE. The post could be offered as a substantive part-time appointment or as a secondment. A market supplement may be available to applicants currently employed on a clinical pay scale.

For an informal discussion about the posts, please contact Tara Lamont (Director, NIHR Dissemination Centre) via disseminationcentre@soton.ac.uk or 023 8059 4703.

Application procedure:

You should submit your completed online application form at www.jobs.soton.ac.uk . The application deadline will be midnight on the closing date stated above.
