Professor in Economics

International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xi'an Jiaotong Liverpool University invites applications for positions of Professor in Economics. Expertise in all fields of economics are welcome, including research areas such as applied microeconomics, macroeconomics, behavioural and experimental economics, and environmental economics.

Xi'an Jiaotong Liverpool University

Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) is a unique collaborative institution, the first and currently the only university in China to offer both UK (University of Liverpool) and Chinese (Ministry of Education) accredited undergraduate degrees. The University now has 10,000 students on campus, enrolled in programmes taught in English. The university is located in the Higher Education Town of Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), well-connected via nearby airports to cities such as Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, and Taipei, and via high-speed rail to other major cities in China. SIP is a major growth zone, including operations run by more than one-fifth of the Fortune 500 top global companies. Greater Suzhou is now the fourth largest concentration of economic activity in China in terms of GDP, and the SIP has been on the receiving end of both private and public investments into innovation and R&D.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Applicants should possess an excellent research portfolio, published in top ranking international journals. In addition, the candidates must hold excellent reputation and impact in their respective fields of research. A proven track record of successful application for national and international grants is also an essential requirement for the position. Ability and experience in transforming academic research into practical knowledge is also welcome.
  2. Applicants should be excellent educators with extensive experience teaching and designing courses as well as supervising student dissertation at all levels - including undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and executive courses. Experience teaching and managing diverse cohorts is also required.
  3. Applicants must have held leadership roles as they will be expected to contribute to the continuous development of the School.

The salary for this position is in line with international standards. In addition, members of academic staff are entitled to accommodation and travel allowances, medical insurance, and relocation expenses. Overseas staff may receive a tax holiday of up to three years, depending on nationality and personal circumstances.
