Planning & Analytics Office

Ref: A6463

Salary/Grade: Senior Manager Scale (£50-60k per annum)

At the University of Plymouth, it is in our nature to innovate - be that in our teaching or in our research. We strive for the highest quality in all that we do - pushing boundaries isn't just encouraged, it is expected.

We currently have opportunities within the Planning & Analytics Office where we are seeking people who can contribute to our journey bringing fresh perspectives and new ideas. If you are eager for a fresh challenge and want to build your career with a University which has ambition then we want to hear from you.

The Planning & Analytics Office (PAO) is the engine room enabling the University to deliver its strategy by informing strategic decisions, advising on strategic actions, and enabling strategic planning and change. PAO provides critical, foundational services for a data-driven, strategy-led and collaborative culture at the University.

To ensure we continue to operate ahead of the curve in an informed way, we have created two critical new senior management roles, the Head of Data Analytics and the Head of Strategic Planning, delivering new and enhanced capability in these critical areas of activity. For further information on the Head of Stategic Planning role, please visit www.plymouth.ac.uk/jobs and search for job reference: A6464

This is a great opportunity to join a newly-organised team, set the future direction and, as part of the senior management team, play a critical part in making PAO leading-edge in the sector for data analytics and related services.

The Head of Data Analytics is responsible for leading data analytics, statutory returns and business intelligence activity, ensuring University strategy is developed and applied based on high-quality information and a sophisticated understanding of implications.

We are looking for someone to flourish in this exciting hybrid role, requiring expertise in data analytics, with broader leadership credentials able to manipulate and interpret complex datasets influencing strategic decisions whilst leading a team engaged in delivering a range of data-related services.

You will provide thought leadership on business intelligence, formulating a long-term vision and strategy for data, overseeing the transition to the new HESA Data Futures landscape and a new suite of BI technologies, automating data reporting and developing near-live performance dashboards to build an in-depth understanding of our students, overall performance and market position.

You will have a proven track record in delivering high-quality data analysis, interpretation and advice to senior leaders.

For an informal discussion please contact Tim Sydenham, Head of PAO ( tim.sydenham@plymouth.ac.uk ) to arrange a telephone conversation.

Please click the apply online button below to apply.

Interviews are expected to take place week commencing 3rd June 2019 and you will be notified if you have been shortlisted or not.

We offer a competitive salary package and a generous pension and holiday scheme.

A relocation package is available.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis.

Closing date: 12 midnight, Thursday 9 May 2019

The University of Plymouth is committed to equality of opportunity, promoting a diverse and inclusive culture, demonstrated through our commitment to the gender equality Athena SWAN Charter and as a Stonewall diversity champion. All applications will be judged solely on merit, however, we particularly welcome applications from groups currently under-represented in the workforce, for example black and minority ethnic groups.

University of Plymouth holds a TEF (Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework) Silver by the Office for Students.
