The role

The Advanced Water Management Centre and Queensland Urban Utilities is seeking research engineer to work on the Industry Lead CRC-P project Transforming wastewater treatment in regional Australia with robust technology for multiple benefits.

Pilot plants will be constructed and commissioned on-site at Queensland Urban Utilities Innovation Centre located at Luggage Point Wastewater Treatment Plant. This demonstration project is a critical step towards full-scale implementation of the technologies. The position will be responsible for day-to-day operation of the pilot plant systems, and associated scientific, technical and engineering support, on-site at Luggage Point Innovation Centre.

The person

The successful applicant will possess an undergraduate degree in chemical/environmental engineering or a related discipline. Applicants will have demonstrated capacity conducting experimental work in the field of water management at laboratory-, pilot-, and/or full-scale and have a understanding of water chemistry and wastewater engineering systems. Experience in maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of scientific, mechanical and electrical equipment and a practical understanding of OH&S and HAZOP in wastewater engineering, and laboratory safety is highly desirable. Aplicants should have experience in field work such as water sampling and water quality measurement with multi-probes and sensors. Applicants will also have demonstrated skills in data analysis and critical assessment of operational procedures, requiring accurate record keeping and attention to detail.

The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to develop a successful and highly-productive research career in a scientific environment, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a strong methodological background, the ability to interpret experimental data, and the capacity to work within multidisciplinary research team.

Applicants must also hold a Current Qld 'C' Class driver licence.

It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases or be willing to be vaccinated against said diseases.

This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for one year as a Research Assistant (with possible extension). The remuneration package will be in the range $67,608 - $75,506p.a. plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be $79,101 - $88,342 p.a.).
