Assistant Professor of Education - English

Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST), (www.gust.edu.kw), is Kuwait's first private, American-model university with a current enrollment of approximately 3,900 students. The Education Program in the Department of English Language and Literature invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Education. All candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. in Education and have a demonstrated record of scholarly achievement, including no less than three academic publications and excellent bilingual language skills in speaking and writing in both English and Arabic. The candidate sought will have a background in STEM education, teachers’ PD and school improvement with experience in undergraduate teaching. Teaching expectations include introductory and higher levels of education classes (introduction, teaching methods, instructional materials, computer-assisted learning, reading for teachers, etc.), as well as the development of specialized undergraduate courses in Science Education.  All instruction is in English. 

In addition to teaching education courses, the successful candidate will be expected to collaborate on improving the undergraduate English Education Program and to provide faculty trainings in teaching pedagogical methods for instructors within the department and within the whole university. In addition to teaching and service, faculty are expected to maintain an increasingly significant professional and scholarly practice.

The Department of English Language and Literature offers a B.A. degree in English Literature, a B.A. degree in English, Linguistics-Translation, and a B.A. in English Secondary Education.
