Job Details
In September 2018 the University of Birmingham launches in Dubai and we are seeking to appoint two highly qualified and suitably experienced English for Academic Purposes tutors to join our team. The postholders will be expected to deliver primarily EAP and academic skills modules at Foundation level as well as contribute to the design and delivery of wider EAP provision as this develops.
You will have a proven track record of excellent teaching skills and extensive teaching experience on courses such as Foundation EAP, Presessional or Insessional English programmes in a Higher Education setting. You will also ideally have experience in the co-ordination of EAP courses and line management of a team of teachers and will have developed particular specialist knowledge in areas such as technology and language learning or assessment techniques. You will have a wide knowledge of academic contexts, discourse and disciplines and will be confidently able to adapt teaching materials and syllabus to specific cohorts of students.
The post-holder will be expected to show a commitment to their own professional development and keep up to date with academic developments in the field of EAP through participation in internal and external staff development activities. The post-holder will be expected to work with a high degree of autonomy but to liaise effectively with the Birmingham International Academy as well as the centre management in Dubai to deliver outstanding results.
The working hours are full-time on an open contract. The University will offer a competitive salary including allowances and a medical insurance.
There are 2 posts available.
The post-holder will be expected to reside in Dubai. The successful candidate will be issued with a local contract of employment (not a UK contract). Applicants from outside the UAE should be prepared to relocate to Dubai independently and make their own living arrangements within commutable distance from the campus. Support will be given for the visa processing and attestation. No relocation allowance will be paid.
The University follows a Safer Recruitment policy for roles with contact with students under the age of 18. The University is an equal opportunities employer.
