HOURS OF DUTY: Full-time

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Fixed term for 4 years and may be renewed by mutual agreement

LOCATION OF POSITION: Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus

THE OPPORTUNITY The Professor, Smart Sensors will be responsible for leading the research program in the broad areas of regional and rural development, smart agriculture technology and sensors. The Professor, Smart Sensors is expected to provide innovative leadership towards the implementation of the University's Strategic Agenda, and in the development of a culture of research excellence in the Centre for Regional and Rural Futures (CeRRF) and is accountable for enhancing the research profile and output of the University.

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR Leading major research projects and project teams, including internal and external collaboration to further Deakin's research activities and seek new research opportunities; Leading and sustain research collaborations and partnerships which have demonstrable outcomes, including significant international research programs or partnerships; Providing intellectual leadership beyond Professors specific areas of research, scholarship or creative activity, including recognition as an internationally recognised researcher; Leading the successful application of scholarly and research expertise to innovation and invention, with appropriate involvement in the commercialisation of outcomes, working with Deakin Research Commercial.

ABOUT YOU A relevant doctoral qualification or equivalent qualification. Recognition as an eminent authority at the national and international levels in research and scholarship, through publication or exhibition in high quality and high impact outlets. Demonstrated ability to develop effective high performing teams and to work effectively as a member and leader of an interdisciplinary team. Demonstrated evidence of national / international standing in Smart Sensors research relevant to Regional Industries, including agriculture, as evidenced by high quality publications in conferences and peer reviewed journals, particularly high quality international journals.
