Position Title: Empower System Administrator
Location: Cleveland, OH
Type of Assignment: Contract to Hire

Job Description:
The OneSource Lab Computing Service Engineer provides scientific and laboratory services, including multivendor instrument, information technology and validation/compliance services when applicable. This role works seamlessly with and supports the other PerkinElmer practices and divisions within the lab computing environment.    

Reponsibilities:
Work with Desktop Services, Network Administration and Engineering to facilitate the optimum computer and instrument environment.
Provide support for all computers attached to instruments including:
• Participating in Annual Quality Reviews
• User access review
• Coordinate activities with vendor when needed
Provide the following services for the Empower system:
• Computer support (Desk-side)
• Software support
• Basic instrument troubleshooting
• User account administration
• User Group management
• User Type management
• Annual imaging of LAC/e
• Weekly rebooting of LAC/es, and as requested
• Add / Remove Instruments as requested
Provide the following services for specified systems:
• Computer support
• Software support
• Basic instrument troubleshooting
• User account administration
• Annual computer imaging
• Coordinate activities with vendor when needed
Provide the following specialized services for specified systems:
• Monitor Monthly OS patching
• Monthly Virus Protection patching
• Coordinate activities with vendor when needed
Provide the following specialized services for specified systems:
• Adding / Removing / Troubleshooting Sensors
• Weekly reboot of servers
• Server maintenance
• Daily monitoring of redundancy
• Coordinate activities with vendor when needed
Provide Access database management services including:
• Indexing, compacting and repair
• Scheduled periodic backups
• User account management
• Communicate with vendor regarding issues
Provide shared drive management services including:
• Serve as backup owner
• Manage user access utilizing SDA tool
Provide Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) for new systems and upgrades, including:
• Change Request Form (author, review)
• Regulatory Risk Assessment (contribute, review)
• Regulatory Applicability Assessment (contribute, review)
• Requirements Specification (author, review)
• Quality Assurance Plan (review)
• Development Test Plan (author, review)
• Design / Configuration Specification (author, review)
• App Roles and Job Types Form
• Design Review & Memo (author)
• Development Testing (author, review, execute)
• Requirement Tractability (author, review)
• Installation Testing for UAT (author, execute)
• Version Description Document (author, review)
• Acceptance Test Plan (review)
• User Acceptance Testing (author, review, execute)
• Installation Testing for Production (author, review, execute)
• Business Continuity Plan (review)
• Disaster Recovery Plan (review)
• Quality Assurance Summary Report (review)
• SOPs for operations (author, review, verify)
Provide hardware and software support for the ENABLE Case Labelling System:
• User Account Administration
• Provide end-user support
• Troubleshoot issues as they arise
• Support remote ENABLE site (Chatsworth, GA)
• Support both desktop and line printers (Zebra)
Provide support for the Line scales to include:
• Inventory management
• Support Line scales in use
• Maintain back up scales
• Coordinate with Maintenance regarding calibration of scales
Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Participate in projects as an individual contributor
Ability to manage one's time with minimal supervision to achieve objectives

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelors in Science in Computer Science Life Science or equivalent industry experience.
  • 2+ years of relevant technical experience including
  • Experience managing teams
  • Experience with scientific instrumentation
  • Problem solving, proven customer relationship and communication skills, and team behaviors
Required Experience:
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex instrument and technology issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify, track and complete tasks for multiple projects under prescribed timeframes.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices as defined by the Company and/or customer's site safety code.
