The School of Mechanical and Mining Engineering, one of five schools in the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology, is known for teaching and research in the broad fields of aerospace, mechanical, materials, mechatronic, and mining engineering.
The School seeks an energetic academic leader to provide sound strategic direction and operational management, to oversee the delivery of quality research and teaching programs, and to lead growth. Industry relationships are critical and active engagement with industry is a key part of the role. The Head will foster a culture of collaboration and innovation across all areas of the School and contribute to the strategic direction of the Faculty as a member of its Executive.
The University is seeking an experienced academic leader, with strengths in research and scholarship. To be successful, you will need proven strategic leadership skills, a strong focus on creating and leveraging opportunities, and the ability to work collegially with staff at all levels of the University. The capacity to develop research excellence in others, and a commitment to the student experience are essential, as is a track record of developing strategic linkages with the broader community. A PhD in a field of engineering relevant to the School is essential.
