PerkinElmer, a global leader in technology, is searching for a junior mechanical engineer or engineering technician to work at the interface of product development and manufacturing. The individual will become a key member of a team developing novel technologies related quantitative pathology. The position reports into PerkinElmer’s Life Sciences and Technology R&D organization comprised of more than 100 engineers and scientists. This part-time position is based in Hopkinton, MA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The engineer or technician will be involved in the following activities, under the guidance of development team members:

RESPONSIBILITIES
The engineer or technician will be involved in the following activities, under the guidance of development team members:
- Organize/inventory R&D parts so that they can be accessed easily during R&D builds
- Order, track, and organize custom mechanical and optical components
- Maintain SolidWorks drawings using templates that satisfy PerkinElmer Quality requirements
- Assemble custom parts into sub-assemblies that fit into a larger automated system
- Test and evaluate custom sub-assemblies that fit into a larger automated system
- Generate, track, and manage engineering change orders in compliance with PerkinElmer’s Quality system.
- Perform general tasks related to project progress and overall success
