The University of Southampton wishes to appoint a Senior Academic Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (fixed term contract for 12-months). The post-holder will have key roles in participating in the development of research and undergraduate teaching within the Academic Unit of Human Development and Health in the Faculty of Medicine, and will also have clinical commitments at University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). The post is subject to terms and conditions of service determined by the University of Southampton and in its honorary clinical capacity by the University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust Board.

This academic post provides a career pathway for able and ambitious trainees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology who have already shown excellence in research by successfully completing a PhD or its equivalent qualification.  The post supports national efforts to strengthen Obstetrics and Gynaecology academia. 

The successful applicant will be supported by one or more senior academics in developing a personal post-doctoral clinical or laboratory-based research programme.  This will be based in the Academic Unit of Human Development and Health (Obstetrics and Gynaecology clinical academic group) of the Faculty of Medicine. It is anticipated that a successful applicant will have achieved sufficient research output, evidenced by publication, to be in a position to apply for an Associate Professor post or equivalent at the end of the contract period.

This role will require an Enhanced DBS clearance.
