Research Fellow in Diversity management and Entrepreneurship Southampton Business School

Location: Highfield Campus

Salary:  £29,301 per annum

Part Time 0.5 FTE, Fixed Term

A five-month Research Fellow post within the Southampton Business School is available from 1 November 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter.  The candidate will provide support to the ongoing project entitled ‘Diversity and Academic Entrepreneurship in the STEMM Research Base’, funded by the University of Southampton under the remit of EPSRC Institutional Sponsorship scheme. This is a multi-disciplinary research project, led by the Department of Strategy, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Department of HRM and OB in the School. The successful candidate is expected to work closely with Professors Mine Karatas-Ozkan and Yehuda Baruch, who are the project leads.

The successful candidate will be part of the research team at the newly founded Centre for Inclusive and Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

The project aims to generate evidence-base knowledge of the relationship between diverse scientific workforce and the quantity and quality of commercial outputs from academic entrepreneurship that is science base (i.e. that includes major forms such as patents, licensing and spin-off ventures) and also association with academic performance. Data collection will be carried out through a survey and interviews with key stakeholders in the area, hence offer a framework for action for the University of Southampton,

Throughout the project, the successful candidate will provide support for conducting the primary and secondary research to achieve the said objectives. More specifically, they will be expected to carry out fieldwork (semi-structured interviews and survey), undertake data analysis (using SPSS, SEM and NVivo if necessary) and a review of evidence base (literature and policy documents). Candidates should have a PhD* or equivalent professional qualifications. Candidates should have a detailed understanding and knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods.

*Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification.  The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD.  Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
